Corona Ranch, Petaluma This existing affordable housing project was first constructed in the 1990s. A rehabilitation program to renovate both the existing buildings, as well as the surrounding, existing landscape began in 2015. The redesign program for the existing landscaping emphasized reducing irrigation water usage by converting high water use existing lawn areas to low water use planting areas. These newly converted planting areas used drought tolerant native and adaptive trees and shrubs that featured a wide range of flowers to add visual interest and focal points throughout the renovated landscape. Water usage was reduced significantly by converting the existing overhead spray irrigation system to a water efficient drip system using drip line tubing and multi-outlet drip emitter devices. The landscape renovation work was completed in the Spring of 2017.
