Capital Village Town Center, Rancho Cordova This neighborhood commercial shopping center was developed as part of a larger Specific Plan development the City of Rancho Cordova. Part of the project’s goal was to develop a “Main Street” for a community that didn’t have a central core commercial area where residents could shop and dine. To achieve this goal, the streetscape for “Main Street” was designed to include patio/dining space outside restaurant and cafe locations throughout the project. Plaza space was also integrated into the streetscape to provide space for art shows, musical performances and holiday/special events. “Main Street” was also designed to be flexible enough to be converted for the temporary use for events such as farmers markets. Flowering trees and shrubs were planted to provide colorful accents and focal points throughout Capital Village. The project was completed in 2010.
